    The 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is redesigned with freshened styling, new features, and a new body style. Mercedes’ premium-midsize car comes as a 4-door sedan and a new-for-2010 2-door coupe with pillar-less hard top styling that’s essentially a slightly larger replacement for the CLK. Most of the powertrains from the 2009 E-Class carry over for 2010. Reprising their roles are the entry-level E350 and high-end E550. Also offered are the high-performance E63 sedan, which is tuned by Mercedes’ AMG performance arm. E350s have a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine. E550s have a 382-horsepower 5.5-liter V8.
    The 2010 E63 adopts the 518-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 from the larger S63. A 7-speed automatic transmission is standard on all 2010 E-Class models. All models have rear-wheel drive. E350/E550 sedans offer Mercedes’ 4MATIC all-wheel drive. Due in 2010 as 2011 models are convertible and station wagon body styles, as well as a turbodiesel E350 BlueTEC sedan.
    Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, curtain-side airbags, front-side airbags, rear-side airbags, hip-protecting side airbags, and a driver-knee airbag. Mercedes’ driver-adjustable air suspension is standard on the E550 sedan. Among the new features available on the 2010 Mercedes-Benz E-Class are adaptive high-beam headlights, which include a camera designed to recognize oncoming traffic and adjusts lamp intensity between low and high beams.
    Also new for the E-Class are a night-vision system and Mercedes’ active multi-contour seats with massage function. Other options available on most models include a navigation system, rearview camera, electronic trunk closer, keyless access and engine start, and adaptive cruise control. The sedan’s optional Sport Package include specific wheels and trim. Similar features are available on the coupe as part of its Appearance Package.

    Mercedes benz 2010 ACCELERATION
    The E350 and E550 engines and 7-speed automatic transmission are carried over from 2009. E350s have plenty of power but require large throttle inputs in order to extract the most performance. V8 models are appreciably stronger than their V6 counterparts in either body style, and the smaller, lighter coupes are livelier than their sedan siblings. Mercedes quotes 6.5 seconds 0-60 mph for the E350 sedan and 5.2 for the E550 sedan. The E350 coupe is clocked at 6.2 seconds 0-60 by the manufacturer, with the E550 coupe at 5.0. The E550, though it doesn’t feel as fast as Mercedes’ estimate, is still plenty quick. The E63 AMG is a rocket; Mercedes-Benz claims 4.4 seconds 0-60 mph. It feels about that fast. Its 7-speed transmission shifts with more authority than in the E350/550, but it’s never harsh.

    Mercedes benz 2010 FUEL ECONOMY
    A rear-drive E350 sedan averaged 21.1 mpg in mostly highway driving. An AWD E350 sedan averaged 20.4 mpg. An E350 coupe averaged 17.9 mpg in mixed city/highway use. E550 coupes averaged 17.1 mpg in city/highway driving and 20.9 mpg with mostly highway driving. No opportunity to measure the E63. All require premium-grade gas.

    Most E-Class models respond well to dips and swells in the highway surface, even those with optional sport suspensions. V8 sedans come standard with a computer-aided air suspension that is designed to react differently under low-speed and high-speed conditions, controlling each wheel independently based on sensor inputs. With it, the ride remains as supple in the E550 as it is in the lighter E350 sedan. Coupes exhibit decent body control, but small bumps trigger a noticeable impact in the cabin, something we deem inappropriate for a car of E-Class’ pretensions. E63 is the firmest of the bunch, but it’s still comfortable as a daily driver, even with its adjustable suspension at its most taut setting.

    Any E-Class is pleasant and capable, but all fall well short of being outright sporty. We notice some body lean in fast turns. Steering feel seems sloppy to some testers, even on versions equipped with the Sport Package. Braking is highly responsive, easy to modulate, and impeccably secure. The exception is the E63, which has firm, direct steering, outstanding body control, and strong brakes.

    Wind and road noise are well suppressed in all models. V8s are slightly quieter than V6s under acceleration, but even then the V6 can hardly be considered “loud.” When the optional panoramic sunroof is open, wind rush is well contained up to about 70 mph. E63 produces a throaty, muscle-car grunt during acceleration. It never fully goes away while cruising, but it’s hardly unpleasant.

    The transmission shift lever in sedans has been moved to the steering column; coupes retain a console-mounted shifter. The controller dial for the COMAND system that programs audio and navigation systems is within easy and comfortable reach on the center console in both body styles. The system still requires some work to access and establish preferred audio and navigation settings. Some functions can also be carried out by an array of buttons on the console. The steering-column stalk for the cruise control is still located in a place where it can be confused for the turn signal and wiper stalk.

    Sedans and coupes have different dashboard and door-panel designs, but both are made up of price-appropriate materials. One test car suffered from a slight dashboard creak. Colors and textures are varied, and wood and metal highlights raise the chic factor. Sedans adopt the nighttime ambient cabin lighting from the larger S-Class.

    In sedans, headroom and legroom are ample, even for taller or longer-legged drivers. Headroom in the coupe is much more limited. Seats are comfortable and supportive. The S-Class’ multi-contour seats with a massage function in the backrest are newly optional in E-Class sedans and coupes.
    In the sedan, two adults fit nicely across the rear seat, but three might find things crowded. Legroom is adequate but not generous. A comfortable seat back angle and good headroom are found under the sedan roof. It’s a completely different story in the coupe, where most adults will find their heads rubbing the indented headliner. Legroom is also in very short supply. Though not as awkward as in some coupes, entry and exit are not nearly as easy as they are in the sedans.

    Sedans feature a deep, flat-floored trunk, but the coupe trunk is smaller and the floor rises slightly at the back, just behind the rear seats. Split-folding rear seat backs are available. With the shifter moved off the console in sedans, space is freed up for a pair of cupholders. Both body styles feature a console box with a split top that can be accessed from either the driver or passenger side, but the box in the sedan is larger.

    Our Recommended nod goes to the E-Class sedan. It’s comfortable, quiet, and as luxurious as you would expect a Mercedes-Benz to be. Though base prices look attractive, costly option packages quickly inflate the bottom line. All but the power hungry will find the V6 model sufficient for everyday use. Coupes share many of the sedan’s virtues but cramped interior accommodations make them less appealing. The E63 AMG delivers world-class acceleration and handling, yet can be comfortably driven every day.

    In 2011, Mercedes-Benz will celebrate the birth of the first automobile, the Benz Patent Motor Car. Throughout the entire year, the German luxury car manufacturer will be organising specially dedicated events: the first of the series – the ceremony held at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart on January, 29th, the exact day when Carl Benz was awarded the Patent No. 37435 for his motorised three-wheeler back in 1886. Obviously, we eagerly await for a long list of Three-Pointed Star notable premieres – the new SLK-Klasse (R 172 generation), the new C-Klasse Coupe (codename:C 204), the new M-Klasse (W 166 generation), the new SLS AMG Cabriolet, the new C 63 AMG models for 2011 (Limousine, T-Modell and Coupe + Black Series) and the new B-Klasse.

    The smaller brother of the SL will embrace, as previously anticipated, a very SLS-esque design, both inside and outside.     The new Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Cabriolet
    Two years after the Gullwing, Mercedes-Benz will launch the Cabriolet version of the SLS AMG in September, at the prestigious IAA in Frankfurt. Soft top to keep weight low, the same, juicy, 571 hp V8 powerplant, the unique, iconic, elegant design lines and the undetered sports car feeling – this is the package of the new SLS Cabrio.The new Mercedes-Benz C 63 AMG models for 2011
    In the course of the next year, Mercedes-AMG will release “doped” versions for the updated C-Klasse range. The Limousine, T-Modell and Coupe will receive the tuning procedure. A Black Series model might also be in the works. While the standard AMGs will still use the current aspirated V8 unit, the uber-sport Black Series is tipped to receive the new biturbo V8 engine and several, important tweaks to enhance dynamics.
    The new Mercedes-Benz B-Klasse
    The second generation of the compact sports tourer will be the spark for a comprehensive lineup of new small/compact Mercedes-Benz models. The forthcoming B-Klasse will be bigger, smoother, roomier, more efficient and more modular. The innovative Mercedes Frontwheel Architecture will be premiered on the new MPV, expected to hit the stage of the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.

    Acura, Honda's luxury arm in the US, has officially revealed the upcoming 2009 Acura TL. Mind you, there's only the one image at the moment, which this being Friday afternoon and me with my head floating in a beer is reason enough to assume it has no rear end. Nothing. Just an empty void. Who needs tail lights, right?
    The new acura  TL 2009, based on the Honda Accord Euro platform, is set to raise the bar for the brand. Fans and detractors alike have been split amongst themselves on the matter of its looks especially the shield-like grille but for the most part the new Acura TL 2009 is definitely equal parts evolution and revolution for Acura.
    Honda has announced that the 2009 TL will offer an option bearing Honda's SH AWD (Super Human Handling All Wheel Drive), and while avoiding specific numbers that it would pack Honda's (and Acura's) "most powerful engine ever." Considering the RL (Acura's version of the Legend) holds a 220kW 3.7ltr mill under its hat, this seems a likely possibility. The FWD base model is expected to land with a 202kw 3.5ltr.
    Whaddya Say, Honda Australia? Any danger of an AWD, high-powered Accord Euro for us poor Aussies?

    The current version is not sold in Japan.The TL “Touring Luxury” debuted as 1996 model, first with the 1996 2.5 TL available with the 2.5 L 176 hp (131 kW) SOHC 20-valve 5-cylinder engine from the Vigor. The 3.2 TL used the 3.2 L 200 hp (149 kW) SOHC 24v V6 from the second generation Acura Legend. The 2.5 TL was positioned as the sporty model and the 3.2 focused more upon a luxurious ride. The very first 1996 Acura TL rolled off the assembly line at Sayama, Japan on March 28, 1995. Sales of the 2.5 TL began in spring 1995, but the 3.2 TL was delayed until fall because of a U.S.-Japan trade dispute.[2] The first generation Acura TL had standard features including dual airbags, antilock brakes, automatic climate control, a cassette/CD player sound system, and power windows and locks. Leather was standard on the more upscale 3.2 TL, while the 2.5 TL featured a firmer suspension setup.

    The Acura RL is among the best of the luxury sedans for commuting through heavy traffic. Acura's top luxury car, the RL is smooth and comfortable, firm enough to contribute to agile handling yet the ride is not so hard it sloshes your cappuccino. It rides comfortably on rough, neglected highways, the sort found around every heavily traveled metro area in America. The brakes and throttle are super smooth for comfortable driving in stop-and-go traffic, while crisp acceleration performance from its V6 engine means the RL is ready when the on-ramp is empty.

    The RL comes standard with all wheel drive, giving the RL excellent stability and traction in all conditions. With all-wheel drive and electronic stability control, the RL delivers surefooted handling with little chance of a spinout in a slippery turn. This is an easy car to drive well.

    Acura's latest Collision Mitigating Braking System warns the RL driver of an impending pileup with audible tones and flashing indicators, then jerks the seat belt, then hits the brakes. This is useful when everyone slams on the brakes at the very moment you're adjusting the radio. The system can reduce the severity of the collision or help the skilled driver avoid it altogether.

    Real time traffic reporting is available in major metropolitan areas, providing the driver with traffic conditions and suggesting alternative routes to avoid jams. The system provides weather reports and forecasts for a planned driving route and is integrated into the navigation system.

    The 2010 Acura RL boasts significant power increases over pre-2009 models. The RL comes with a 3.7-liter V6, not a V8, and we found its 300 horsepower delivered strong, smooth thrust on the freeway. We found the brakes to be excellent, with a good, firm pedal.

    The interior is comfortable and functional, with controls that are easy to operate. Build quality, fit and finish put the Acura RL near the top of its class. Creature comforts abound, including cooling for the front seats and an impressively comprehensive navigation system.

    Simply put, anyone shopping for a four-door, five-passenger luxury sedan in this price range should have the Acura RL on the shopping list.

    The 2010 Acura RL ($46,830) comes standard with leather trimmed seats; dual-zone climate control with GPS solar-sensing system; 10-speaker, surround-sound, AM/FM/6CD stereo with USB port, MP3 jack, Bluetooth capability, XM satellite radio with three-month trial subscription; power rear sunshade; memory system; information display; keyless engine start/stop system.

    The Technology Package ($3,620) adds a satellite-linked navigation system with voice recognition, rearview camera and Zagat ratings for listed restaurants; three-month trial subscription to real-time traffic and traffic re-routing information for 76 metropolitan areas in the 48-contiguous states and current weather conditions and forecasts not only locally, but also for an intended destination and the selected driving route; active front lighting system; heated and cooled front seats; and upgraded genuine wood interior trim.

    Acura-approved accessories include back-up sensors ($530), deck lid spoiler ($485), car cover ($254), nose mask ($162), engine block heater ($66), wheel locks ($81), door edge trim ($39), first aid kit ($30). The All-Season Package ($334) includes floor mats, trunk tray and wheel locks. The Protection Package ($342) includes splash guards, trunk tray and wheel locks.

    Safety features include frontal, side impact and curtain airbags; electronic stability system with traction control; antilock brakes, electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist; front seat active head restraints; and tire pressure monitoring system.

    The optional Collision Mitigation Braking System Package includes adaptive cruise control and a crash-anticipating system that, depending on a computer's evaluation of the likelihood of the RL colliding with a car ahead, activates one of three levels of visual and audible warnings, automatic pretensioning of the driver's or the driver's and front seat passenger's seatbelts and light or hard braking. The system, which can be turned off, operates only at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour and only when the speed differential between the RL and the other car is at least 10 miles per hour.

    The Acura RL looks taut and athletic. Fresh exterior bodywork introduced on 2009 models resulted in a crisper look. Most noticeable is its bold grille, Acura's new design cue. Overall, it's a pleasant take on a familiar standard bearer.

    Alongside the bright, pentagonal grille, are compound headlight units slotted into the leading corners of the fenders and wrapping around to a point on a perfect vertical from the front wheelwells, a styling device intended to mask the front overhang and visually pull the front wheels forward. Squarish fog lights are recessed at each end of a secondary air intake extending across the lower fascia split by an raised segment continuing the geometry of the grille through the front bumper. Similar lines flow back from the top of the grille across the hood, ending at the junction with the A-pillars (the side frames of the windshield).

    There's a bit of wedge to the side profile, but not as severe as in the Honda Accord, which allows the RL to skirt some of the Accord's uncomfortable resemblance to the Chrysler Sebring sedan. Smooth flanks show the barest trace of a character line picking up just aft of the front wheelwell and running through the recessed, full round side door handles to end at the forward most tip of the taillights. Polished metal strips outline the side windows. A horizontal bump strip along the lower door panels defines the architectural break below which the sheet metal tucks inward toward the brightwork topping the rocker panel. Gently creased bulges give the wheelwells a touch of sportiness.

    The hindquarters present something of a bustle look, in large part attributable to a kick up, aerodynamic lift-reducing lip running the width of the trunk lid. Multi-hued taillights bracket the inset cupping the lower trunk opening. A satin finish bar tops the indent housing the license plate. Squashed hexagonal exhaust tips fill spaces carved out of the lower edge of the rear bumper.
